As a native of South Africa who relocated to the United States in 2000, I’ve always been passionate about my country and its exquisite beauty of mountains, beaches, wildlife, and especially its people.

It is a land known as the rainbow nation for its unique languages and colorful sense of humor. The inspiration behind Angry Giraffe Vodka. When I moved to the US, I could not find a smooth Caramel Vodka that didn’t require a mixer, so I began my quest to recreate the flavor that I missed and desired to introduce to others.

Four years later and with only a few simple ingredients of grain grown in New York and flavoring added in California, I can proudly say that we have created the perfect Caramel Vodka. It is the perfect balance of flavor and smoothness that invoked memories of the rich caramel flavor that I had missed for years.

Origin of the Name

While on a visit to Cape Town in 2015, my brother gifted me a locally carved giraffe. My new wooden friend always appeared to be giving me the side eye aka “the dirty look”.

Fast forward to a rainy summer afternoon in 2021, the giraffe found its way to the top of a new bar that my friends and I had set up in my living room. While we were enjoying some libations, my friend Jen suggested we name the bar, “The Angry Giraffe bar”.

I instantly decided this was going to be the name of my very first brand. After all, who doesn’t love giraffes? They have the best facial expressions and are among the most lovable gentle giants.

In 2024 we won the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco.

I partnered with Twin Stills Moonshine Distillery to produce and bottle Angry Giraffe Vodka.  A family owned and operated distillery in Speonk Long Island, NY.

A well-known establishment in the NY area for the Old Timer’s brand of Moonshine. The small batch private label Caramel Vodka can be enjoyed in a variety of ways: as a shooter, over ice, or as a great addition to many cocktails.
